New Painting: Tea Time

Tea Time, 2011, oil on linen, 11 x 14 inches
I began this painting out of impulse, I needed something to get the new year started on the right note. This piece has gone through a number of stages, mostly on the background, and that process was recorded in this blog. On the last post about this painting I thought I had it all worked out, all I needed to do was just finesse the objects, but I guess I was wrong. One random night I walked in the studio and started changing colors, again, it was in impulse. I thought there was too much brown in the painting, and so I began adding cerulean blue to the brown grey I had been working with. Other small changes followed, and this is the final outcome.
