Giuliano de' Medici, 2010, pencil and white chalk on paper, 17 x 14 inches
In January I began work on this cast drawing of Michelangelo's Giuliano de' Medici's head. I never anticipated that a detailed and accurate drawing of a three dimensional form would take close to six months, but it did and I'm glad. The time spent on this drawing, every Tuesday morning (aside from the five week hiatus I took to get ready for my Gourmet Garage show), has taught me patience and to see with a more keen eye what is presented in front of me. Now that my friend Giuliano is done we can part ways and I can move on to the next project. Another cast is in the works, and I will show and tell soon.
